Q- How many diapers do I really
need?
A. 2 dozen is a nice amount to have. It allows for washing every
other day with a couple to spare when you have those unforeseen
accidents or just didn't get the wash done.
Q- How many covers do I need?
A. You should have about 6 good covers. I highly recommend the Litewrap.
It has leg gussets to help reduce leaks, is very soft, and works
very well.
Q- Do SAHM diapers need a cover?
A. Yes. SAHM diapers do require a cover, unless otherwise stated
(such as an All In One, those do not require covers)
Q- How long does it take to get my order?
A.Shipping is usually within 2-7 business days. We try to ship as
promptly as possible and have an excellent track record of doing
just that.
Q- What is SAHM's return policy?
A. We will fix or replace damaged diapers at our discretion within
21 days after diapers are received. Opened packages (such as covers)
are considered used and can not be taken back. You can exchange
UNUSED items (not washed or worn or package opened-where applicable)
for store credit, less shipping charges and a 20% restocking fee.
There are no exceptions to this policy.
Q- What is your secure online check payment? What forms of payment
does SAHM accept?
A . We accept Visa and MasterCard, Paypal, and Postal Money Orders.
We are also now accepting Yahoo PayDirect, C2IT, and Ebay's Billpoint
as means of payment.
Q- How do I wash SAHM diapers?
A. Each package has a care sheet inside with washing instructions.
I recommend washing your diapers in a perfume/dye free detergent.
Wash on the gentle cycle. You can add vinegar to the rinse if you
like. Please avoid harsh detergents such as tide, pure soaps, and
fabric softeners which coat fibers making them less absorbent. Dry
on high or medium heat or use a clothesline. NEVER bleach your diapers
or let them sit for extended periods in the pail! Remember if you
are rough and hard on your diapers you are lessening the life of
your diapers.
Q- Why are my prefolds so flat
and hard feeling?
A. Prefolds need to be washed and dried 3-5 times before use. When
you receive them they feel flat and hard but they quilt up and become
buttery soft when the washing and drying is done. You must wash
AND dry, washing 3 times and then drying won't work.
Q- Aren't disposables cheaper
and more convenient?
The cost of disposable
diapering... From birth to potty training (which usually comes later
in children using disposables), you will have spent way over $2,184.00
for 9,100 diaper changes at about 24 cents each, that is for each
child you have! Wow that's a LOT of money! Think of what you could
buy if you had an extra $2,000.00, and that's PER CHILD. I bet you
didn't even realize how much you spend! $15.00 for the jumbo pack
of diapers each week isn't much but week after week it really adds
up quickly. You can cloth diaper for under $500.00 from birth to
potty training, at a high estimate! SAHM Cloth diapers can also
be reused for future children and are always a much needed donation
item when you are done with them. If kept in good condition you
may also be able to sell them.
disposables are so convenient...
Cloth is SO much easier than you may think! A 2-3 day supply of
SAHM Cloth Diapers (roughly 2 dozen diapers) needs to be washed
every other day. All you have to do is throw them in the washer
and dryer before you go to bed and wake up to clean diapers! A good
perfume/dye free detergent is all you will need. Please visit my
links page to read more on diapering methods. SAHM Cloth Diapers
are easy to put on, especially with Velcro tabs and best of all
you don't need to fold them. Many people keep a basket near the
changing area or under their bed and just throw the clean diapers
in and take them out as needed. I find the washing time for cloth
isn't much different then the time I spend taking disposables out
to the trash can!
Q- Aren't disposables so much
healthier and hygienic... Many disposable company's create their
diapers so the urine turns into gel using Sodium Polyacrylate. There
are many debates about the safety of long term disposable use. SAHM
Cloth diapers are 100% cotton. You know what's in them and they
never leave those gel beads all over your baby's butt! There is
nothing hygienic about 9,100 diapers sitting in a hole in the ground
taking decades to decompose. Yes 9,100 is roughly the amount 1 child
will use in his/her childhood. Imagine the environmental damage
of millions and billions of diapers just sitting in our earth.
Q- disposable diapers LOOK so
comfortable...Yes they do look that way and you can thank the
ad agencies and diaper companies for force feeding us that myth.
It amazes me how many times I've heard cloth diapering moms - who
needed to use a disposable diaper in a pinch - say how their children
cried and literally hated putting a disposable on. Nothing beats
the feel of soft, 100% cotton flannel, the same material that all
SAHM diapers are made with. Unlike disposable diapers, that don't
breathe and can lead to diaper rash, SAHM Diapers let air flow and
the skin breathe which promotes healing of rashes and helps stop
any from ever starting, and they are very soft against your baby's
sensitive skin. If you're a woman who uses cloth pads for yourself
you know 1st hand the feeling our babies have going from cloth to
paper/plastic.
I hope this FAQ has helped you. I
know if you are just starting to cloth diaper all the choices can
be no less then totally overwhelming. If you have questions you
have no found answered here please contact us. Please check the
links section for more general cloth diapering questions.

"I
love them -- they are even more beautiful than the picture on
the website. I am so happy that my daughter gets to wear such
pretty quality made diapers. This makes diapering her a pleasure
...Tina"
"These are adorable! I love the way you have soft flannel on
the inside and they fit so well too. The wings are actually
long enough that the velcro fits on the front of the diaper
instead of the sides where all the others did and would scratch
my dd's hip. They are so trim between the legs too. I love them...Michelle"
